Legality of Parkour

A couple of friends and I were thinking of starting a parkour community in Maryland, but we wanted a definitive answer of if it is illegal or not. Who better to ask but the parkour community itself? So do any of you guys know if parkour is legal in Maryland, USA?

Thanks

Parkour is Legal
by: Drew Taylor

Hey,

You may have read this article 'Ban of Parkour' and misunderstood.

Parkour is legal everywhere. After all, Parkour is just movement, how can movement be banned? The council of the town of Moreton in the UK, has however told practitioners that they would be faced with an ASBO (Anti-social Behaviour Order) if it was practised with-in the boundaries of town.

Where you're from - Maryland, there isn't any ban that I'm aware of, quite right too! You're fine to start training there.

If you guys are serious about maintaining the legality of parkour should really concentrate on regaining a positive image for parkour by respecting property, members of the public and the authorities.

k thanx, we had a meeting the other day and everything went fine, no one even asked us what we were doing, and since we are just starting, we're practicing in a sort of park with some low walls and railings with a lot of grass to practice landings so we didn't really mess up the place so it should be fine.

I agree

I think that the banning of Parkour anywhere is ridiculous! I mean, yeah, hoodies n stuff will abuse parkour but the only reason they could ban it is if it was destroying property. And any real traceur knows that going onto private property is both illegal and against the morals of parkour. So personally, I think the council's looking at this with a bit of a biased eye.

There are no banns. but make sure that if you get confronted by law enforcement, you explain to them what your doing and the discipline of parkour. Try to be respectful.
